• Over the years, my approach to dog training and behavior has been shaped by the teachings of trainers through seminars, books, and hands-on-experience since 1998.

As my training methods evolved, I drifted far from older, outdated methods that use lots of corrections and force training. We will work together with your dog in a manner that will never scare or hurt them but will use their own natural behaviors to help them get a better understanding of what skills we want them to learn.

I have found that by using these gentle and positive methods, my clients form a much deeper relationship with their dog and training becomes easier and more enjoyable.

  • Before my arrival please gather the following:

    • Your dog’s favorite treats (need recommendations? Here are my favorites!)

    • A 6-foot leash

    • Buckle collar or harness - I do not use, nor promote the use of prong or shock collars. If you are currently using one of these tools, just be sure to have a buckle collar, head collar, or harness available for our session.

Sometimes it is helpful to have all of your dog’s chews and toys available as well.

Please also download the Session Notes sheet.

When I arrive, greet me as you would any guest you invite into your home.

IMPORTANT: If your dog has any history of aggressive tendencies, or has a bite history, you must have your dog crated or on leash and under your control before I enter your home.

  • All new puppy clients will receive housebreaking information and upon request can receive additional information regarding our session.

I do encourage all of my clients to email me following our session if you have any questions or need any clarity on behaviors and skills discussed.

I also encourage all of my clients to download the Session Notes sheet which will help you organize your thoughts and skills covered during our session.

  • When it comes to dog and human behavior, there can never be guarantees. Dogs are living, breathing animals who have free will to make their own decisions. Much of your dog's success if going to be dependent on the dedication of you, the owner, and the nature of the dog.

What I can guarantee is that I will give you the best of my skills and knowledge to help identify and address the problems at hand.

  • Yes! I do offer virtual sessions.

These sessions can absolutely be as effective as I will use my own dogs for demonstration, then coach you through the same skill. Virtual sessions are great for, sessions to prepare for your dog’s arrival, behavior problems, obedience skills, and tricks!

Severe problem behaviors such as resource guarding, separation anxiety, or any aggressive tendencies will not be covered over a virtual session.

  • So glad you asked! I have a whole list of them for you here.

  • If you or anyone in your home has any symptoms of COVID19, a pending COVID19 test result or has had a known exposure to COVID19, please let me know and I will be happy to reschedule or change our appointment to a virtual visit (any travel costs will be refunded).

I will do the same should anyone in my household meet the above criteria.

I am fully vaccinated, but I am happy to wear a mask if you need me to or are more comfortable this way. We can also work outside when possible as well. If you have any other COVID related requests, please let me know and we can make a plan that keeps everyone safe and comfortable.
